Verinder S. Nirankari, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Nirankari completed his Residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Maryland, after which he trained as a Fellow in Cornea and External Disease at the University of Pittsburgh. He currently holds a Clinical Professorship of Ophthalmology at the University of Maryland and is Director of Cornea, Complicated Cataracts, and Refractive Surgery at Union Memorial Hospital. Dr. Nirankari serves on the editorial boards of the Afro-Asian Journal of Ophthalmology and the Indian Journal of Ophthalmology, and is consulting editor to the American Journal of Ophthalmology, Archives of Ophthalmology, Ophthalmology, and Cornea. His research focuses on the effects of deep corneal vascularization on corneal clarity, management of the intraocular lens and astigmatism after corneal transplantation, surgical and laser refractive surgery, and corneal graft rejection. He is a member of the American Ophthalmological Society, the Castroviejo Corneal Society, American College of Surgeons, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He specializes in cornea-external diseases, complicated anterior segment surgery, and refractive laser surgery.
